Those who also serve

I hate war and I think it is a  product of greedy humans trying to control the life blood of mother earth.

That being said I honor those who fight and die in these horrible conflicts.

It's not just humans that serve in wars it is also my canine brothers and sisters.
Dogs have been involved in war as long as there have been wars.

On every continent in every country there have been 4 legged warriors who served in many capacities from  sentries to scouts  to bomb sniffers.
WE have jumped out of airplanes worn gas mask and dodged bullets.
In Vietnam alone there were over 4500 dogs that served.

In Irag and Afghanistan we sniff out bombs search for survivors and all the while we are as loyal as any soldier marine or sailor to the cause.

Dogs who have seen combat have a very hard time ever making it back to civilian life.
In Vietnam only about 200 of the thousands that served made it back.

I hate war and I hate that so many dogs and of course humans have died in the trenches rice patties desserts  and beaches over the centuries.
I give my humble thanks to the ones that did.

Let's honor the ones that serve while still hating the notion of war.

Have a safe Memorial day.

Hug the ones you love and tell them they matter.
